Magic: The Gathering, designed by Richard Garfield, is the trading card game Wizards of the Coast released in 1993. Each player is a planeswalker, a wizard who draws mana from lands to cast creatures and other spells. Collectors chase the Power Nine, led by Black Lotus, and other Reserved List cards that Wizards has pledged not to reprint, along with mythic rares, foils and modern serialized and borderless versions. Magic card values move with reprints, condition, PSA, BGS or CGC grades, and demand from formats such as Commander, Legacy and Vintage.
